What is the Secondment Worker visa for the UK?
The Temporary Worker Visa is a new type of visa for the UK that allows companies that have signed a high-value contract with a UK organization to temporarily assign their employees to the UK in order to fulfill specific work purposes.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for this UK visa type, you must:
√ Be an employee of an overseas company that has signed a high-value contract with a UK organization
√ Have been working for your overseas employer for at least 12 months
√ Have a Sponsorship Certificate from the UK organization you will be working for
√ Be doing a job that is on the eligible occupations list.
What documents are required?
√ Your Sponsorship Certificate reference number, which will be provided by your employer
√ A valid passport
√ Evidence that you have enough financial resources to support yourself during your stay in the UK
√ Documents that prove you work for your overseas employer,
What are the benefits?
Applicants who are eligible for this visa type are granted an initial 12-month visa. After the visa expires, the applicant can extend it for an additional 12 months. The maximum time that can be spent in the UK on this visa type is 2 years.
Applications for this visa type can generally be processed within 3 weeks of submission, and you can study, work in the job described in your Sponsorship Certificate, bring family members with you, volunteer, and travel outside the UK. This visa type does not grant you the right to apply for permanent residency or to work a second job.
